“Il Merlo” shoemaker by Antonio Tursi
My activity as a shoemaker craftsman is handed down by my father who in 1979 began the art of shoe repair in Switzerland. He returned to Italy in Cisternino in 1982 and in May he opened the shoemaker business which has always fascinated me as a job, in fact since I was a child in the afternoon I always went to the shop to help my dad. Until in 2006 dad retired, leaving me the choice to continue with this splendid reality, and here we are …
Indeed he also left me the talking blackbird (in Italian il merlo) named “Rocco”, in fact, I named a shop after him. That is why it is called “Il Merlo” shoemaker and repair.
